MIL-STD Rugged Keyboards
for Defence Applications

Military and defence applications call for input devices that are both highly reliable and extremely weather-tight. DAVOLIN’s military keyboards deliver excellent tactile response for gloved or bare-handed users while maintaining a tight environmental seal.

ENGINEERING APPROACH

Solutions

The available project evidence does not document a Military & Defence deployment. The remote-control example below informs console-layout discussions only; defence qualification requires separate validation.

ROV console reference — not a military installation.

01

Review compact console input

Use the ROV reference to discuss combining keyboard entry and cursor control where displays, emergency controls, connectors and power controls compete for panel space.

02

Plan field serviceability

Consider access for cleaning or replacing a removable trackball without removing the complete keyboard. Confirm maintainability against the actual equipment design.

03

Validate defence requirements independently

Specify any required military standards, environmental tests and procurement constraints separately. Neither the ROV project nor its field photographs establish a military customer or qualification.

D-8635G in a Portable ROV Surface Power Console

Challenge. A portable ROV topside console needed keyboard and cursor control within limited panel space while retaining a serviceable pointing device.

Solution. DAVOLIN supplied the D-8635G stainless steel keyboard with an integrated removable 36 mm resin trackball and a compact rear-panel-mount arrangement, using USB connectivity.

Result. The D-8635G was installed in the completed surface power console for ROV operations. This is documented under Unmanned & Remote Control Systems, not Military & Defence.

Evidence boundary. Field images show this type of console in public-safety training and do not imply a direct sale to the pictured end-user agency. Front-surface ratings are keyboard IP65 and trackball IP54, not whole-console waterproofing. No military deployment is claimed.
