Onboard Instrumentation
for the World’s Fleets
DAVOLIN specialises in the design and production of onboard instrumentation for seafaring vessels. Marine navigation controls must withstand temperature extremes, constant UV exposure, driving rain, high humidity and salt spray — every day, every watch.
ENGINEERING APPROACH
Solutions
Build fixed keyboard and cursor-control arrangements around the operator workflow. The documented example is an indoor bridge simulator, not a seagoing bridge deployment.

01
Plan complementary input controls
Position a rugged keyboard and separate ergonomic trackball around radar, ECDIS and navigation-software tasks, as demonstrated in the bridge simulator.
02
Integrate a fixed console workstation
Review panel space and operator reach before fixing the input devices into the workstation, rather than relying on loose desktop peripherals.
03
Match the host and environment
Confirm USB connectivity with the navigation computer. Assess salt exposure, vessel approvals and onboard conditions separately from the indoor training reference.

Marine & Offshore · Documented training-console project
Keyboard and Ergonomic Trackball for a Ship Bridge Simulator
Challenge. The simulator needed stable keyboard entry and comfortable cursor control within a multi-display navigation-training console.
Solution. DAVOLIN supplied the D-8675-5 rugged keyboard and a separate ergonomic trackball, positioned as complementary controls with USB connectivity to the simulator host.
Result. The keyboard and trackball passed customer confirmation and were integrated into the simulator console alongside navigation displays and software.
Evidence boundary. This is a maritime training and simulation installation. It does not demonstrate shipboard environmental qualification or an operational vessel installation.
