Explosion-Proof Keyboards
for Underground & Surface Mines

DAVOLIN is a high-end manufacturer of rugged, mine-certified input devices. Our stainless-steel wired and 2.4 GHz wireless keyboards, keypads, trackballs and touchpads hold the Mine-use Explosion-proof Certificate (Ex ib I Mb) and are designed for ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 applications.

ENGINEERING APPROACH

Solutions

Engineering options informed by a documented underground mining integration. Certification and equipment suitability must be confirmed for each coal-mining project.

01

Protect the complete input assembly

Review rear PCB protection, a metal back cover and cable routing together with the equipment enclosure, following the documented D-8611DESK adaptation.

02

Match the installation and interface

Define the mounting space and electrical connection before adapting the keyboard. Treat the keyboard platform and the finished equipment configuration as separate approval scopes.

03

Review certification for the destination market

The reference records CNEX certification and Ex ib IIC T6 Gb. Coal-mine suitability, ATEX and IECEx requirements need separate assessment; this case does not establish those approvals.

CNEX-Certified Keyboard for Underground Mining Equipment

Challenge. Underground equipment in Shanxi, China required fixed physical input with additional protection for rear electronics, the back structure and cabling.

Solution. DAVOLIN adapted the D-8611DESK with protected rear PCB electronics, a metal rear cover and a project-specific cable arrangement.

Result. The adapted configuration obtained Chinese CNEX explosion-proof certification and was installed in underground mining equipment in Shanxi Province.

Evidence boundary. The source identifies an underground mining project, not a named coal-mine customer. Its certification record is Ex ib IIC T6 Gb; it is not evidence of ATEX, IECEx or coal-specific approval.
